Females are significantly larger than males. Females are ovoviviparous and she carries her eggs inside of her body until the babies are ready to hatch. She gives birth to 12 – 80 live snakes! These newborns are independent as soon as they are born, and do not need any parental care from their parents. These snakes are semi-aquatic and spend most of their time in the water.
