Javan Pond Heron

Ardeola speciosa

Animals of All Regions Back
The non-breeding plumage of this heron makes it difficult to recognize and distinguish in the wild because it is similar to that of the Chinese and Indian pond herons. During breeding months, the plumage turns from brown and flecked to orange, slaty and white.

DIET

Frogs, crustaceans, and a variety of invertebrates.
